Movie: Scary Movie
After graduating college, Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) has gone on to becoming television news anchorwoman. Her assignment is to investigate mysterious crop circles found on Tom Logan’s farm. During her investigation she discovers an eerie secret that led to one of her best friends death. A scary video tape with frightening images seems to be the cause of her death and a threat to others. While along her journey she confronts Orpheus, who then explains to her that she is “The One” and must help the President of the United States in preventing a full on alien invasion.
You can't help but love a spoof especially when it pokes fun at some of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Making fun of some of our favorite movies is exactly what makes Scary Movie so entertaining. At first I was a little upset about it being rated PG-13 when the last two were rated R and also directed by the ever so funny Keenen Ivory Wayans. I kept thinking to myself how can you make a Scary Movie PG-13? Rude humor, offensive language, nudity, references to drugs, and sexual innuendoes are what made the last two so hilarious. Even though they were limited I was pretty impressed, overall I laughed just as hard as I did in both Scary Movie 1 and 2.
Of course with any spoof you just won't understand or find it as funny if you haven't seen any of the movies it's poking fun at. Therefore, if you haven't seen The Ring, 8 Mile, or Signs I would suggest seeing mainly those three films before spending money on Scary Movie 3. Oh yeah! And another thing don’t miss the opening scene! (wink, wink) I don’t want to give anything away as to what happens but let’s just say it includes Pamela Andersen and ex-playmate Jenny McCarthy and a reference to an infamous video tape
