+++ Religion: Fact or Fiction? +++

Alright first of all I’d like to say that I am an agnostic. In other words I believe that there is no way that one can know whether a god really exists or not, or whether there is any “divinity“ at all to life. I am not associated with any established religion at all and also believe in no religion. I’d also like to say that I came upon this belief by myself, by my own experience and personal thought. I was not convinced by anyone or given any of these ideas by anyone else. I had these beliefs before I even knew what agnostic means. Now that I have that cleared up, I am going to try to show you that this is the only thing that can be true.

Over the course of my life I have watched a countless number of people blindly devote themselves to a religion without actually thinking about why it is that they believe in the religion. They cannot see what it is that actually is driving them to believe in the religion and driving them to convince themselves that it is true. There are many reasons why this happens.

First, most people are raised from childhood to believe that a certain religion is the correct one. Since humans naturally accept how things are around them, especially when young, most never stop to think just why exactly things are like they are. So they are raised to believe that a certain religion is true and that it is ridiculous to think otherwise. Another example of this is when people believed that the Earth was flat, not round. This was because that idea was the only one that was presented to them, so it was just accepted to be true. Anyway, another reason why many people are blind to why they believe in a religion is because of emotions. Since people naturally fear that which is unknown, they naturally need an idea to cling to. Many people convince themselves that there has to be a god, because they don’t want to think about what it could be like if there wasn’t one. Society also plays a role in this emotional aspect. Since there are so many people that believe in established religions, people tell themselves, “Well there are so many people that believe in it, it must be true.” This is a false idea. As I have shown with the world being flat idea, just because millions of people believe in something doesn’t make it true. The third reason of why people cant see the truth behind religion is because of the rhetoric convincing of others. People spend so much time thinking about whether or not the facts that are given to them are true or not, that they miss the deeper fact. The fact that there is no way one person can know for certain that their religion is correct.

Now that I’ve talked way too long, I want to tell you that if you don’t believe a single thing I just said I want you to think. Think long and hard. Also, watch and listen to the religious views of others, and think hard about them. If you are religious, ask yourself why you believe in that religion, and be truthful with yourself. Whenever someone tries to convince you that their religion is the right one, try to look at why it could be wrong. Be open minded and try to look at things from as many views as possible. You will soon realize that everything is relative and there is no view that is correct, there’s only different views. So the only thing you can know for certain is that there is no way you can know . Believing in a religion can only close your mind and cause ignorance. And what does ignorance do again? That’s right kids, it kills.
